A  Friday morning press release from Early Police Department stated the following:

“On Thursday, Nov. 11 at approximately 6:22pm, Early Police Officer Steven Means was dispatched to Jerry’s Burgers and Shakes in the 1000 block of Early Blvd for an Armed Robbery.

The clerk reported that a white male came in the store and ordered 2 hamburgers but appeared to be “on something” because his eyes were pin point and he was very jittery and acted somewhat angry. After the male ordered the burgers he left the store and returned approximately 10 minutes later.

The clerk told him they haven’t cooked his hamburgers yet because he didn’t pay for them, at that point the male subject told the clerk to give him all the money. The clerk noticed a small gun under his hand on the counter. The clerk called another clerks name that walked up when the male subject pointed the gun at them and started yelling for them to give him the money. The clerk gave him the money and he ran outside and fled in a grey step side pickup. Just under $300 was taken from the register.

A description of the suspect and vehicle was broadcast to all area officers with other agencies and teletypes were prepared for surrounding counties. The vehicle description was recognized by several Officers from area agencies to belong to a Joshua Dean.  Dean had been dealt with by area officers on numerous calls over the past few weeks.

Photos were obtained of Dean through dispatch and Dean was positively identified by witnesses. Shortly after that information was developed that Dean sometimes fled to the Mills County area.  Mills County Sheriff Office was notified and a short time later located the vehicle parked on the side of highway 183 just south of the Mullin community. The vehicle had ran out of gas and there were 2 individuals still inside.

Mills County Deputies detained a female Shawna Hallacy and had to deploy a taser to detain and control Joshua Dean due to him refusing to comply to Officers demands.  A .25 cal handgun was located in the floor of the pickup and just under $300 was found in Deans’ pocket.  Mills County Deputies located some marijuana in the vehicle and both Hallacy and Dean were arrested on charges of Unlawful carrying of a weapon and Possession of marijuana.

Sgt Shawn Dibrell met with the district attorney’s office seeking warrants for aggravated robbery for both Hallacy and Dean.”

Shortly after 2pm Friday, Chief David Mercer of the Early Police Department reported that Sgt. Shawn Dibrell with the Early Police Department had obtained arrest warrants for 30-year-old Joshua Dean and Shawna Hallacy for Aggravated Robbery.

The warrants were signed by Judge Brian Thompson JP Pct 3 Brown County. Bond was set at $150.000 according to Mercer.

Sgt. Dibrell and Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies have gone to transport Dean and Hallacy back to Brown County at this time according to an update from Mercer Friday afternoon.
