Funeral services for Sue Roberts, age 68, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 16, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jimmie Mize officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. today at the funeral home.
Sue passed away Friday afternoon, September 13, 2013, at Brownwood Nursing & Rehab surrounded by family.
She was born January 22, 1945, in Brownwood, the daughter of the late Ira Andrew and Julia Mae George Hicks. She was married to Darvin “Dobby” Roberts in Brownwood on July 28, 1961. She retired from the Texas Youth Commission as secretary of maintenance and was a Baptist. She enjoyed crafting, playing card and board games, and spending time with family. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Ira Andrew Hicks, and her husband Darvin “Dobby” Roberts.She is survived by her mother Julia Hicks of Brownwood; a daughter Teena Dickerson and husband Stewart of Early; a son, Rocky Roberts and wife Kristi of Early; three grandchildren, Cody Dickerson and wife Amanda of Abilene, Kayla Dickerson of Early, and Baby Girl Roberts of Early; a brother, Butch Hicks and wife Martha of Brownwood; sister-in law, Teresa Phillips and husband Gerald of Early.
