Area students are enjoying the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit and demonstrations showing how different types of art are created.

Students from Early and Mullin schools went on field trips to the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood Tuesday to learn a little about art and see firsthand many different forms of art.

Students from Early High School art classes were brought to the exhibit by their teacher Tasha Carter.  Mullin’s art teacher Sally Davis stated that this is an annual trip for her art students; however many that were not enrolled in art this year asked to come on the trip. She said that she brought all the students she could that were interested.

“Students use this exhibit and pull from it all year round,” said Davis, explaining how students in her classes are inspired to create works after seeing the exhibit.  “We are so fortunate to have an exhibit such as this in the area.  These ladies (demonstrators) are wonderful.  They are so good with the students (helping them with questions).

The students were able to see demonstrations of painting and drawing while at the exhibit Tuesday.  Students from all area schools have been visiting the exhibit and demonstrations since it opened last week.

The Stars of Texas Exhibit hours are 9am-6pm weekdays, Saturday 9am-4pm, wrapping up the last day on Sunday 1pm-4pm.  Selected artists continue demonstrating their techniques and styles throughout the exhibit each weekday, from 9 am to 3 pm.  Friday, February 15th will be the conclusion of these demonstrations.
