In an effort to encourage healthy self-esteem and self-image among students at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex, three Howard Payne University students recently planned and implemented a Self-Esteem Workshop.
Under the inspiration of HPU students Monique Ching, Ciera Culpepper, and Melissa Meerkatz, the workshop took place at RJSJCC’s chapel on Saturday, April 21st. Twenty students from Ron Jackson participated in the program which included a discussion on beauty among different cultures, a testimony and inspirational speech given by Melissa Meerkatz, group discussion, lunch, and an art project.
The two hour workshop was received well by the students at the facility who expressed their appreciation for the volunteers’ dedication to teach biblical truth in the area of godly beauty. Students who participated left the workshop with the understanding that true beauty comes from within and is an expression of God’s amazing love within each of us.
