joshhernandezarticle1Brownwood High School coaches, headed by Athletic Director Bob Shipley, threw a benefit auction for one of their students in need.  BHS Sophomore Josh Hernandez was paralyzed in a vehicle accident earlier this year.  To help out Josh and his family, the BHS coaches banded together to offer support.

The benefit auction was held this afternoon at the Adams Street Community center in Brownwood.  Many citizens, football fans and a large group of BHS coaches attended the auction and showed support.  An array of items were auctioned off in a silent auction including autographed baseballs, footballs, jersey, purses, game tickets, and more.

A live auction ended the day with a autographed Texas Longhorn’s Jersey, football helmets, and several other items topped off with an autographed Pete Rose Jersey.

Coach Shipley said that there was already $1450 donated before the auction started.  The live auction brought about another $1900.

More donations are needed, so those interested can call the Brownwood High School athletic office at 646-0703.  Donations can also be mailed to the Brownwood Athletic Office, PO Box 816, Brownwood, TX  76804.  Make checks payable to Josh Hernandez Benefit Fund.  All funds are to be used to help purchase a handicapped accessible van for Josh and his family.
