A Brownwood man escaped serious injury this afternoon after jumping from a burning two-story building.

It happened on County Road 225 south of Brownwood in a tin building. According to Brownwood’s Fire Chief Del Albright, it was likely started from welding that caught the insulation on fire.

The man received some burns and scrapes, possibly while trying to put the fire out.

The fire marshal is now investigating the cause of the fire.

The man who jumped from the building is expected to be okay.
