Local fuel prices, and prices across the state continue a steady rise this week. September crude oil was up again causing gas prices to go up as well. Oil closed at $69.45 per barrel on Friday, up from the previous week & wholesale gasoline prices also spiked to near highs for the year.
The effects of these increases are definitely being felt in Brownwood & Early. Local gasoline prices are between $2.39-$2.49 per gallon and they may not stop there. Gasbuddy.com is showing that the average price for gas in Texas is $2.41 per gallon, up around .06 cents from last week and is trending higher. Energy market reports are mixed according to INO.com. The expectations are for a higher oil price on Monday, but there are mixed signals as to where they will go for the rest of the week.
The state’s average price of gas peaked in mid-June at around $2.55 per gallon and if oil and wholesale gas prices continue to climb this week, consumers may see prices reach these levels again shortly.
