The Pecan Valley Republican Women’s Club will be having their monthly luncheon tomorrow April 25, 2012 at the Brownwood Country Club at 11:30 a.m. The Early Chamber of Commerce will be conducting a ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. to welcome the Pecan Valley Women to the Early Chamber of Commerce.
This month speaker Sammie J. Stewart is the newly appointed Brown County Republican Chairman voted by the Brown County Executive Committee. Stewart was born here in Brownwood January 15, 1939. Stewart attended Brownwood Public Schools and graduated from Brownwood High School in 1957. Stewart enlisted into the U.S. Navy immediately after graduating Brownwood High School and served two years aboard the USS Pine Island in the Far East. Stewart served four more years in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Stewart attended Texas A&M, and was stationed in El Paso Texas after graduating from the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy in Austin, TX in 1961. Stewart joined the U.S. Border Patrol in 1964 and served for 30 years in many different locations though out the Southwest United States. Retired in 1993 and returned to Brown County to reside in Blanket, Texas.
Stewart will be sharing his ideas and plans for his newly appointed position as the Brown County Republican Chairman. Everyone is invited to attend. The cost of the buffet is $12 payable at the door.
