CunninghamStewartServices for Stewart E. Cunningham, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with David Barnum officiating, burial with Military Honors will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home.

Stewart went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 1, 2015, at a local nursing home, after 90 incredible years. He we be greatly missed by loved ones.

Stewart was born to John T. and Stella Mae (Stewart) Cunningham in Zephyr, Texas on January 15, 1925. He attended Zephyr High School; after his junior year, he drafted into the United States Navy. He served from 1943 to 1946, during the World War II era on the USS Riddle as a Destroyer Escort. When he got out of the Navy, Stewart came back to Brown County and worked for as a Brakeman Conductor for the Santa Fe Rail Road for 20 years, then for various parts houses until he permanently retired. Stewart had a very outgoing personality; he never met a stranger and made many friends along the way. He loved music, old cars, being around people, and his sweets.

Stewart is survived by his daughters, Vicki Smith, Vonda Moore, Susie Ward, Carrie Ann Pearson, Jill Pullen and husband Larry, Amy Schwebke and husband Russell, Gena Bula, Luann McCluskey and husband Joe; son, Jeff Bailey; grandchildren, Kim Flores and husband Paul, Cody Moore and wife Gina, Stacey Lamb and husband Robbie, Larissa Rowe and husband Brandon, Courtney Pearson, Heather Cox and husband Kevin, Ashley Danley and husband Matt; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Evlyn Inocente of California. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives, Billie Jo Boyd Gibson and Freddie Neely Cunningham; sisters, Elsie Abraham, Agnes Staggs, and Geneva Scott; half-sister, Fay Ablen; and half-brother, Elmer Parker.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Songbird Lodge and Dr. Stephen Oines and his staff, for all their compassion and care.
