Steven Edward Wright was 62 years of age when our Lord decided it was time for him to come home on Sunday, January 26, 2020.
Funeral Services for Steve will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2020, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Slaymaker officiating; burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held prior to services from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Steve was born in Brownwood, Texas on September 3, 1957, to Mitch and Darlene (Inglet) Osborne. They moved out to California. Eventually, Darlene moved back to Brownwood with the kids and married, Carl Wright, who later adopted Steve. Steve and his father, Mitch, reconnected later in life and remained close.
Steve married Juanita Maldonado Wright on May 13, 1975, in Brownwood. On January 8, 1976, Steve and Juanita became Mom and Dad to their precious son, Michael Wright. Then on August 16, 1977, they welcomed their daughter, Bridget Wright.
On the weekends Steve loved to race the quarter mile drag strip and was a member of the Heart of Texas Drag Racing Association. After his grandkids came along, Steve decided to sell his Nova race car and open a new chapter of his life. So, he bought a family boat. This led to many fun-filled memories out at the lake with the whole family.
Steve had been employed several different places throughout his careers such as the Brown County Water District, Kohler, Holly Chevrolet, and Bennett Body Shop. Steve had been blessed with a skill from an early age; God blessed him with the natural ability to paint, pinstripe, and do body work on vehicles. In the early 90’s, Steve decided to open his own paint and body shop, Steve’s Paint and Body, which he was still running up until his passing.
Unfortunately, Steve lost his only son, Michael at the age of 45 this past July 2019 and never fully recovered from his broken heart. Then the sudden loss of his grandson, Scout, age 20, just this past week left Steve with a very heavy heart.
Steve is survived by his wife, Juanita Wright of Brownwood; daughter, Bridget Fragua and Jeremey Hall of Brownwood; seven grandkids who affectionately called him PaPa, Allyssa Wright, Michael Wright Jr., Allya Wright, Krista Fragua, Hudson Hall, and Presley Hall; one great-grandchild, Mason. He was a beloved brother to Victoria Wright, James Wright and his wife Kelly, Pam Wright, Randy Wright and his wife Beth, and Tonya Killion, Michael Daniel Osborne and his wife Debra, Michelle Osborne Whittington and her husband Joe, Marcus Edward Osborne and his wife Leanne. He is also survived by his step-mother, Martha Osborne; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Malone; father, Mitch Osborne; adopted father, Carl Wright; son, Michael Wright; and grandson, Scout Fragua.
