Stephen Edward Taylor of Austin, Texas formerly of Brownwood died on Sunday, November 21, 2010 in Austin. Stephen was born in Odessa, Texas on May 17, 1957 to Jerry Bob and Laverne Crawford Taylor.
Stephen was a graduate of Duncanville High School and Howard Payne University in Brownwood. Stephen’s occupation after graduation has always been in the medical field. He has served as Hospital Administrator in both Comanche and Hamilton hospitals. He also has been a hospital Laboratory Technician and Manager in Texas, Idaho, and Wyoming. He was just recently hired by Seaton Hospital Group in Austin, Texas. Stephen was certified in Many fields of medical technology.
During his high school years, he served as a team leader for a group of Royal Ambassadors with Texas Baptist Men. During this time he touched many lives in Camp Craft and Spiritual values. Relationships made during that time remain until this day. Stephen also was a certified Disaster Relief volunteer with Texas Baptist Men, having worked disasters in Texas and Old Mexico.
Stephen’s favorite activities included snow skiing, cross country skiing, winter walks, camp outs, and canoeing in which he was instructor rated, kayaking, riding bikes and hiking. He was also a licensed private pilot. Stephen was in the process of restoring his high school car, a 1972 Datson 240Z as well as helping his dad, JB restore his grandfather’s 1966 Chevrolet pickup.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bob and Mildred Taylor of Brownwood and Herman and Audrey Crawford of Brady, Texas.
Stephen leaves behind his parents Jerry Bob (JB) and Laverne Taylor of Lake Brownwood, love of his life, Chris May of Austin. Son, Stephen Ross Taylor of Bandera, grandson, Gavin Ross Taylor of Florida, sister Lori Hurt and husband Doug of Christoval and two nephews, Taylor Hurt of Christoval and JT Hurt currently serving our country in Iraq. Also his Aunt Jo Ann Taylor Ricker and husband John of Lake Brownwood, cousins Bruce Franke and wife Stacey of San Angelo, Brigette Schroeder and husband Ross of Christoval, and Todd Franke of Brownwood; last, but not least, his buddy, Scout.
Stephen is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins in and around the Brownwood and Hamilton area.
Family visitation will be Friday November 26, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Heartland Funeral Home.
A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early, Texas with Dr. David Nowell of Tennessee, Kenny Shuman and Ron Vickers of Texas officiating.
Stephen was so proud of and loved his other half Chris with all of his being.
He especially was so very proud of his nephew JT. They were connected through music and Uncle Stephen was always waiting with anticipation to hear the next song that JT wrote
Stephen left a legacy of love and friendship that will be remembered forever.
