Linda Eggleston – Pastel Painting

Linda is known for her distinctive and colorful style of painting in oil, pastel and acrylic, equally versatile in still life and landscape. She especially enjoys painting objects and scenes of the Southwest and Texas. Her works range from Indian pottery, wildflowers, animals, and people.

Her extensive travel throughout the southwest, first as a Longhorn Salesperson with her family “JH Hall’s Mounted Longhorns.”  Her grandfather BG Humphries was the first to start the Longhorn business in 1928. Then as an artist has given her the opportunity to study and observe this region of America. She has lived and worked in the remote areas of New Mexico and Texas. She graduated from Brownwood High School.

Linda is self-taught in drawing, but credits her colorful style to Artist Gaitha Browning of Brownwood, Texas with whom she studied. She later became Gaitha’s studio assistant. She has also studied with Richard Goetz of New York, George Burrows and Kay Franklin.

Linda started her teaching of private classes in 1976, teaching for over 20 years in Brownwood, Texas.   Her classes consisted of drawing, composition, value and mixing of colors.  She stresses how light and dark can change the subject of the painting.

An accomplished artist, she has won a multitude of awards and Best of Show at art shows. Linda has been in The Stars of Texas Art Show for many years.  She will be giving a demonstration in pastel painting for The Stars of Texas.

TinaHowardTina Howard – Copper Enameling

Tina Howard will be demonstrating copper enameling at the Stars of Texas Art Show this year. Enameling is the art of melting powdered glass onto metal (copper, fine silver, or steel), usually as a means of decoration. Colorful enamels make cheerful jewelry and elegant accents for the home. Cloisone, Plique a Juor, and Champleve are all advanced art techniques using enamels. “Graniteware” cooking pans are made of steel covered with enamel to protect them against rusting.

Howard became interested in enameling after learning to work with precious metal clay. She took a class from Tammy Barr (who is also demonstrating at Stars this year), and developed her own sculpted designs to cast in the silver clay.

Howard lives in Blanket with her husband, Paul, where she gardens and dabbles in “too many hobbies.”

JudyKirkseyJudy Kirksey – Pastel Painting

Judy Kirksey has enjoyed drawing and painting as long as she can remember. In college, Kirksey started out as an art major, but switched after the first year due to a failure of nerve about being able to make a living. For the last 15 years or so, she had become involved again in drawing and painting, primarily due to the support and encouragement of members of the Brownwood Art Association.

She is a native of Brownwood, and have lived here full time with the exception of ten years during her 20s.  Kirksey was happy to return to drawing and painting as she neared retirement from her work as a psychologist.  Kirksey stated, “It has been a joy to return to something I loved doing in my younger years.”
