AlanMorrisWifeSouthsideChSouthside Church is excited to welcome their new Lead Pastor, Alan Morris to Brownwood.  Alan and his wife Susie most recently come from Puluxy Baptist Church where he was the Senior Pastor for the past three years.  Alan currently is finishing up his Doctorate of Ministry at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas where he also received his Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages.

“Alan and Susie are wonderful people with a fantastic heart who want to minster to our Southside family of faith and the community of Brownwood” said Eric Evans, Pastor of Worship/Administration.

Dr. Rusty Wheelington, an Elder at Southside said, “I think Alan and Susie are a great fit for Southside and our ongoing commitment to minister to others both locally and internationally.  Their enthusiasm for loving God and loving people is contagious for our city.”

Southside Church had been without a full Pastoral Staff since January 2009 until the Morris family arrived in December.  During this time the church transitioned to an Elder Lead family of faith with Teaching Pastors for the multiple worship services at the church.  Alan’s position of Lead Pastor will oversee all of the worship teaching, education and outreach ministries of the church and serve on the Elder Board.

Alan and Susie are not strangers to Brownwood as they started their ministry time at Southside Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas in 1995.  Alan and Susie have three children; Cody and Melinda Whitfield along with their daughters Leah and Jordan Morris, currently a Freshman at Angelo State University.  Susie is a Registered Nurse and recently began working at Ranger College teaching in their nursing program.  They have purchased a home here in Brownwood and look forward to being part of Brownwood and the Central Texas community.

This Sunday, February 13th following the 10:45am worship services Southside will welcome Alan and Susie with church-wide dinner and food “pounding” and would love to invite the entire community to be a part of the events.  It is not every-day-of-the-week that a church is privileged to welcome a new pastor and family and this day will be something special for Southside and our community.  If you have additional questions please visit the church website at www.southsidebrownwood.org or call the office 325-646-0844.
