BPDpatchSmallBrownwood Police released the following information regarding a fatality accident which occurred on Burnet Drive over the weekend.

Saturday, April 30, 2016, at approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department and Lifeguard EMS responded to the area of Burnet Drive and Virgil Gray Street regarding a report of a one-vehicle traffic accident.  The Texas Department of Public Safety also assisted the police department in this investigation.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup stopped in the middle of the roadway across both lanes of traffic.  It appeared that, for unknown reasons, the pickup left the roadway and traveled up an embankment where it struck a large rock, causing it to roll over.  The pickup then traveled back onto the roadway where it came to rest.  Based on the observations at the scene, it appears that the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the pickup was identified as 40-year-old Salamon Luis Nava.  Mr. Nava was transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center where he was stabilized then flown to Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene for further treatment.

On Monday, Brownwood Police Department received word from Hendricks Medical Center that Mr. Nava succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:54 a.m.

“We ask that you keep the family of all involved in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time,” stated Assistant Chief James Fuller.
