Nationally renowned Southern Gospel artists Gold City and The Proclaimers Quartet will be the featured performers at Howard Payne University’s 8th Annual “Singin’ With The Saints!” concert this spring. The event will be held on Thursday, May 19, at 2 p.m. in HPU’s Mims Auditorium. Tickets are $15 each, or $12 each for groups of 10 or more.
Founded three decades ago in the historical gold-mining town of Dahlonega, Georgia, the group Gold City has remained a top attraction in the Southern Gospel field. The group’s many accolades include a Dove Award, multiple Dove Award nominations and numerous Singing News Fan Awards. Gold City was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1992. The group is comprised of Tim Riley, bass; Craig West, lead; Daniel Riley, baritone; Brent Mitchell, tenor; and Bryan Elliott, piano.
The individual members of The Proclaimers Quartet (pictured at top) each began performing in childhood or during the teenage years. As adults, each brings to the group a multitude of experience performing in other groups such as The Canaan Land Boys, The Cornerstone Quartet, The Gilmores, The Regents and more. The lineup of The Proclaimers Quartet features Tommy Watley, lead; Scott Bush, tenor; Lloyd McKemy, keyboard; Jerry Tew, bass; and Anthony S. Morrison, baritone.
