Howard Payne softball player Ashley Silva was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team as announced by Academic All-American Committee of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Director of American).
Ashley is a three-time All-Conference player at first base and a two-time Academic All-Conference selection for the Lady Jacket softball team. This season she was named ASC West Division Player of the Year and is among the leaders in walks (8th walks per game) and on base pct (10th) in the nation. She currently serves as president of the HPU Student Athlete Advisory Committee and is a member of Delta Chi Rho.
Nominations and voting for the All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII,DIII,NAIA,NJCAAprograms).
Three Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district, with those on the All-District first teams placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Last week, Silva was also named ASC All-Conference Team West Division Player of the Year/1st Team All-West Division 1st base
