Shirley Ann Been (Mum), age 83 of Brookesmith, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2019. She was born in Breckenridge on June 24, 1935.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Opal Gentry, her husband, Arb Been and son, Monty Been.  She is survived by a son, Terry Been and wife, Robin of Brookesmith; three granddaughters, Lacey Been and husband, John of Ault, Colorado, Kristi Been Hallum and husband Lance of Colorado Springs and Kelby Been of Granbury; daughter-in-law, Kelly Been of Granbury; five great grandchildren, Whitley and Brenden Been of Brookesmith, Jules Hallum and the twins – Hayes and Hawklin Hallum of Colorado Springs.

Mum retired in 1984 as Postmaster of her beloved Penwell, Texas Post Office to move to the family ranch in Brookesmith.  Mum loved her flowers, plants and the chickens; but her real love was following the grandkids and Whitley in any sporting event in which they participated. Mum and De wore out several vehicles traveling all over the country following the kids.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be Sunday, January 6 at 1:00 at the Brookesmith Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood.  Visitation will be held from 2-4 Saturday, January 5 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
