Brownwood Lions wide receiver Jaxon Shipley has become a late addition to a USA team that will take on a team of international players in the “Team USA Vs. The World” all-star football game that will take place Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Austin.
Shipley will be one of three Longhorn commitments in their 2011 recruiting class who will play in the game as he joins running back Joe Bergeron of Mesquite and defensive back Josh Turner of Oklahoma City.
America’s top high school football players will take on the best high school-aged players from around the world in the game. The 2011 U19 National Team, featuring players committed to top NCAA FBS schools, will face a World Select Team made up of the top players from outside the United States.
Team USA will be led by Austin Westlake Head Coach, Darren Allman. Past U19 National Teams have featured players who have gone on to play at NCAA FBS schools such as Texas, Nebraska, LSU, Alabama, Virginia Tech, and Miami (Fla.). The World Select Team features players from Mexico, Canada, Japan, American Samoa, Australia, Sweden, and Germany, a number of whom are committed to NCAA FBS schools.

The game will be nationally televised live on Fox College Sports Central as well as on seven regional cable networks.
