Brownwood News – The Brown County Sheriff’s Office released a report regarding an accidental discharge of a firearm yesterday that left two young men injured. The ages of the men involved were not listed in the report, however witnesses described the boys as being 18 and 16 years old. It is believed the 16 year old was critically injured.
The report reads as follows:
On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at approximately 4:12 p.m., Brown County Deputies responded to 100 block of Valley Vista Drive. This was in reference to a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm resulting in the injury of two residents.
Reports received by the sheriff’s office investigators were one resident of the home was attempting to disassemble a pistol when the accidental discharge occurred. The accidental discharge struck the resident attempting to disassemble the gun as well as another resident. Both residents were struck in the leg.
One resident was transported by Life Guard ambulance to Brownwood Regional Medical Center. The second resident was transported by Air Evac helicopter to Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene.
No charges have been filed at this time in connection with this incident, but the Brown County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate this matter.
