According to Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs, three drug arrests were made along with an arrest of an individual suspected in the burglary of a habitation on Tuesday.
A release signed by Sheriff Grubbs reported the following:
*Approximately 1:00pm, BCSO deputies responded to the report of a burglary in progress. According to Sheriff Grubbs, neighbors reported hearing suspicious activity at a residence in the 2100 block of Misty Glen Drive, in the Tamarack Mountain area of Lake Brownwood. Deputies arrived to find the door of the residence kicked in and detained two individuals, one of which was 22-year-old Cody Wayne Harrell of Rising Star. Investigation showed that Harrell had lived at the residence and had been evicted over six months ago, the report states. According to BCSO officials, the owner of the residence was contacted and wished to pursue charges.
“Without the help from the public, it would have made it more difficult to solve this crime,” stated Sheriff Grubbs in the release. “As long as it can be done safely, we appreciate any assistance that the public can offer us to help make their communities safer.”
*According to Grubbs, around 3:00pm, a BCSO investigator assisted Child Protective Services in the search of an apartment located in the 300 block of Bluffview where it was reported that marijuana was being smoked while children were living and present during its use. The release states that one resident, identified as 35-year-old Michael Dewain Wilkerson, was found to be on probation out of Brown County. After the investigator contacted Brown County Probation, their help was given to conduct a search of the apartment where several items of marijuana were located in the apartment, the release states. Wilkerson was arrested for Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone according to Grubbs. Investigation into the use of the drugs with the children present is continuing by Child Protective Services Grubbs stated.
“Cooperating with Child Protective Services and Brown County Probation has proven to be a positive relationship in dealing with these types of complaints,” said Grubbs. “This cooperation not only leads to the arrest of offenders but aids in achieving the best possible outcome for children in these situations.”
*A BCSO investigator was conducting an interdiction when he stopped a vehicle around 7:00pm which was traveling on Bluffview. Occupants of the vehicle were identified as 18-year-old Jackson Brook Weekly and 43-year-old John Coley Lane. According to the report, a short roadside interview led to the surrender of marijuana from the vehicle and a search of the vehicle uncovered additional drugs and drug related items including prescription drugs and methamphetamine. Both Weekly and Lane were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. Additionally, Weekly was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the illegally possessed prescription drugs.
