Brownwood News – The Brown County Sheriff’s Department is cautioning area residents on a SCAM going around.
A man, posing as Detective and/or Deputy Steven Jones, is calling people in Brown County.
He is telling them they have a warrant out for their arrest for not showing up to Jury Duty. He has spoofed the Law Enforcement’s phone number so it looks like the Brown County S.O. is calling. If you get this call just hang up. They will try calling you back and scaring you by telling you they are coming to arrest you. The Brown County S.O. says please do not fall for this SCAM.
