On Sunday, September 22, 2019, Shaun Timothy Dunn, devoted son to his parents, best buddy to his brother, and friend to many, passed away at the age of 63. Shaun was born in Brownwood, TX on May 25, 1956 to Robert and Patsy (Hunt) Dunn.   He received two bachelor’s degrees, one in sociology from the University of Texas and one in business from Howard Payne University.   A third degree, a master’s in occupational therapy, was received from Texas Women’s University.

Throughout his life, Shaun had a passion for learning, whether that learning involved carving and playing his own woodwind instruments, learning how to turn a dry patch of dirt into a miraculously lush lawn for his father, or even putting his own spin on chocolate pudding, a dish his dear mother requested again and again.

Shaun’s sharp mind and tease-you-mercilessly humor were at play in his many quotes from classic movies and in his ability to recall wacky television sitcoms with flawless accuracy.   He’d amuse his family with his spot-on imitation of the ditzy blonde in the Andy Griffith Show, the actress known for her croaky-voiced greeting “Hello DAAAHHHHL!” Shaun also was a sports fan his whole life, enjoying watching a game on TV with equally as much gusto as a live arena viewing.

A very devout person, Shaun treasured Bible verses and religious history alike and, as his family often noted, truly lived the life he praised in scriptures.  If a cashier overpaid in change by even a few cents, Shaun returned the coins, fearing the mistake might cost that employee his job. With his educational accomplishments, career choices, friendships, and devotion to family, Shaun impacted many with his intellect, quick wit, easy laugh, and tender-hearted soul. For these attributes and many, many more, Shaun Timothy Dunn was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.  “Fly upward, soar higher, shine brighter, Dear Brother.”

Shaun was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his mother, Patsy.  Shaun is survived by his brother Kevin and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Visitation will be held at Davis-Morris Funeral Home on Friday, September 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with interment at 12:00 noon at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
