Sharon Sue Nicholson Ross passed from her earthly life Thursday, November 26, 2015, after valiantly fighting cancer. Sharon is now in Heaven with her Savior, Jesus Christ, praising His name alongside other angels.
Sharon was born February 3, 1954 and raised in San Saba, TX where she attended San Saba schools. She was an involved member of her class, enjoyed being a part of the Dilloette Drill Team and graduated cum laude in 1972. More importantly, she made lifelong friends in San Saba that she cherished until her last breath.
Sharon met and married Pat McQueen and, from that marriage, she had her first son, Bradley Allen McQueen. Although the marriage did end, they remained committed to raising Brad with the benefit of two loving parents.
Sharon then met and married Walter W. “Manny” Ross. Manny had two sons, Bobby and Toby Ross, and a daughter, Terry Ross, from a previous marriage and together they had Joshua Cody Ross. Manny & Sharon remained lovingly married until Manny’s death on September 27, 2015.
Sharon’s sons, Brad and Cody, were her pride and joy. When they walked into the room, her face would light up with pride and she enjoyed being their mother. She was a true soccer mom when they were on the field and she happily made many sacrifices for their benefit.
Sharon also has two young grandchildren, Brinley Marie and Riley James McQueen, that she lovingly referred to as “my babies” and they lovingly referred to her as “my Nonnie”. She was an incredible Nonnie – never hesitating to play on the floor with them and loving them with such patience and kindness that will leave an impression for their lifetime.
Sharon worked for many years at Kmart. Upon its closing, she began work at Texas Bank where she was a dedicated employee for over 20 years. Her friends at the bank were dear to her and an important part of her daily life.
Family was so important to Sharon. Regular gatherings with her mom, sisters, sons and in-laws included hugs, jokes and lots of laughter. She was fun to travel with and enjoyed going anywhere her family wanted to go.
Above all, Sharon was a spiritual woman, exhibiting God’s love to all who knew her. Anyone who met her could instantly sense her loving spirit. She was a joy to visit with and could easily carry a conversation for an hour, much to her daughter-in-law’s delight.
Sharon is survived by her mother, Reta Bell Horton Nicholson; sons, Brad McQueen and wife Kimberly, Cody Ross, Toby Ross and wife Kandi; daughter, Terry Ross; sisters, Charlot DeHoyos and husband Pete, and Shelia McLaurin and husband Johnny; sister-in-law, Anita Brymer; grandchildren, Brinley Marie and Riley James McQueen and Jessica Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Manny Ross; father, Thomas Edwin Nicholson; and step-son, Bobby Ross.
