September 28 Matchup Against Wylie Bulldogs Designated as Gold Game for Child Cancer Awareness

Brownwood News – The Gold Game for Childhood Cancer Awareness will be September 28th at Gordon Wood Stadium as the Brownwood Lions take on the Wylie Bulldogs. Local childhood cancer survivors will be introduced on the field and they will present the opposing team with a friendship gift before the game.

Gold is the color of the ribbon for childhood cancer awareness month (September), and fans are encouraged to wear some gold along with their maroon and white to show their support. In addition, the Lionettes will be passing the boot to “kick children’s cancer” during the 3rd quarter.

All donations will go to Hope from the Heart, a local 501(c)3 charity that assists Brown County childhood cancer warriors and their families with expenses and with college scholarships for survivors.  The group has given out $4000 in scholarships and assisted more than 12 families since it was founded in 2012.
