Brownwood News – Texas Senator Dawn Buckingham has been appointed as Vice-Chair of the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission. Senator Buckingham represents District 24 which includes Brown County.
In a statement, Buckingham said “I am honored to be appointed by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick as Vice-Chair of the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission. Over the past two years, I have worked closely with my fellow Sunset Commissioners to create efficiencies in government by decreasing the regulatory burden Texans feel through our reviews of state agencies. I look forward to continuing this work as Vice-Chair. Before my election to the Texas Senate, I previously served on the Sunset Commission from 2013-15 as a public member. I particularly want to thank Lieutenant Governor Patrick, as in 2017 he allowed me to become the first-ever former public member of the Sunset Commission to return to the Sunset Commission as a legislator, and now the first former public member to serve as Vice-Chair.”
