Selden Jones, 79, of Comanche, passed away Saturday August 1, 2015. Funeral services, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche, will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday August 8, 2015, at the Heartland Chapel with Chris Stevens and Ronnie Calcote officiating. Interment will follow at the Gardens of Memory in Comanche. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday August 7th, 2015 at the funeral home. Selden was born January 25, 1936, in Boynton, Oklahoma, to Silas Max and Sarah (Boher) Jones. After graduation from Odessa High School in 1954, Selden attended Odessa College receiving his Associate degree. He was employed by the Shell Oil Company as a production foreman, living primarily in Odessa, but also in Gainesville and Ozona. Selden and Joy Elaine Burney were married July 7, 1956 in Odessa, Texas. They had three daughters, Bobbie, Michelle, and Elizabeth. Selden was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and Southern Baptist. In 1995, Selden and Joy moved to Comanche where they took up raising horses. They purchased a ranch near Energy, TX and founded the Triple-J Paint Horse Ranch. Selden and Joy were proud supporters of the Comanche 4H and Comanche Rodeo.
Selden is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joy; daughter, Bobbie Jones Bolinger and husband Terry of Aurora, CO, their children, son, Todd Bolinger and wife Lindi of Arvada, CO, son, Travis Bolinger and wife Mandy of Erie, CO, and their daughter, 1 year old Kenzie; daughter, Michelle Jones Allen and husband Randy of Cypress, TX, their son, Ryan of Cypress, TX, their daughter Jessica Noel of Cypress, TX, her daughter, Barbara-Michelle and son, Blaise; daughter, Elizabeth Jones Lazarine and husband John of Rosenberg, TX, their sons, Brett and Zachary; brother, Jim Jones of Wichita Falls, TX; sister, Annell Hammon of Conroe, TX. He was preceded in death by parents, Silas Max and Sarah Jones.
