leapinglionThe Brownwood Lady Lions soccer team ended their season Friday night with a loss to Waco University with a score of 1-0 in the Region III-4A sectional playoff round.

Head Coach J.B. Gibbs said that the team gave a good effort and he was proud of what they accomplished.

“The girls played hard against a good team last night,” Gibbs said. “University was organized and they passed the ball well. They scored on a great shot from a volley just inside the penalty box and we had some chances but we couldn’t quite respond. I was proud of the way we played.”

He said that the improvement of the team since the beginning of the season is a testament to the players as they finish the season with the best record in the program’s history.

“I’m proud of the girls on their season,” Gibbs said. “Seeing where they are today from where we started speaks to their character and commitment to get better.”

The Lady Lions finished the season with a 16-6-1 record overall.
