Brownwood City Council will begin interviewing applicants for the city manager position Tuesday during a special called meeting of the council at 3:00 p.m.
Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes announced last week that the city council would begin its search for a new city manager. From Wednesday, March 25-Friday, March 27, applications were accepted internally from interested employees within the city’s own organization. If no qualified applicants are received from within the organization, council will advertise externally, according to Mayor Haynes.City Manager Bobby Rountree recently announced that he will retire this coming June. Rountree has served in this position for eight years and has been in public service for a total of 44 years.
