Representatives from campuses in the Brownwood Independent School District recognized the district’s school board members Monday during School Board Recognition Month.
Each member of the school board was given a variety of gifts and presentations in appreciation for the work and time they contribute to BISD. Many of the gifts were hand made by the students at the various campuses.

Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed January 2011 as School Board Recognition Month, when districts across the state show their appreciation for their school boards.
“The people who make up these boards volunteer their time because they care about their communities and their schools,” said Gov. Perry said in a statement. “Each year, the Texas Association of School Boards designates January as School Board Recognition Month, to emphasize the importance of the services these dedicated men and women provide to the schools and students of Texas. At this time, I urge all Texans to recognize the invaluable contributions realized through the work of our school boards.”
