Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) wants to help college bound students on their way to a higher education.
“Each year, TFB offers a whole host of scholarships on both the local and state level for TFB members and their families,” Lewis Lehman, Brown County Farm Bureau president said. “It’s our way of giving back to our community and helping Brown County students on their way to success.”
Scholarships totaling almost $80,000 are awarded annually to students who participate in TFB’s youth contests, youth leadership organizations or apply for several other scholarships that are made available.
The S.M. True, Jr. Agricultural Scholar Award is a major scholarship offered by TFB. The $20,000 scholarship honors the former TFB president and his commitment and dedication to Texas agriculture.
The scholarship is open to students who have declared agriculture as their major and have at least 60 hours of college credit.
The Dick Mitchell Memorial Scholarship awards $1,000 to one high school junior or senior who attended TFB’s Youth Leadership Conference in Stephenville during the summer.
Collegiate and high school students who would like to pursue a career in agriculture are encouraged to apply for TFB’s Young Farmer and Rancher scholarship.Memorial and district scholarships are also available.
“We encourage all high school and college students in Brown County to check out the scholarships and apply,” Lehman said. “Every little bit helps when you’re trying to reach your goals.”
