CoteSchacherl2011Howard Payne University punter Cote Schacherl was named to the 2011 AFCA Division III Coaches’ All-America Team announced today by the American Football Coaches Association.

Cote Schacherl led the American Southwest Conference and the nation in punting with a 43.9 average. He kicked 17 inside the 20 yard line and had a career long punt of 73 yards this season at East Texas Baptist. Schacherl received received First Team All-ASC and First Team All-South Region honors by D3football.com. He also recently participated in the National Bowl, an annual all-star game for All-American and All-Conference seniors held in Allentown, PA.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.
