Brownwood emergency responders were called to a one-vehicle accident Saturday morning involving a motorcycle which later resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the report, the accident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Austin Avenue and Duke Street. A witness stated that he noted the driver of the motorcycle struggle to maintain control as he attempted to pass through the intersection.
The weather condition may have contributed to the accident as it was very windy when the accident occurred which may have led to the driver losing control of the motorcycle, according to police. The motorcycle slid and crashed into a cement wall, according to the accident report.
According to Assistant Chief James Fuller, upon arrival, officers observed several motorists who had stopped to render aid to 45-year old Randall Glenn Reed. Reed was conscious and alert while speaking with first responders and indicated that he simply lost control of the motorcycle while traveling through the intersection, said Fuller. Reed was transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.“At approximately 6:00 p.m., the Brownwood Police Department was contacted by ICU staff members who indicated that Mr. Reed had succumbed to his injuries,” stated Fuller.
The Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department and Allegiance ambulance responded to the scene of the accident.
