Early High School hosted the 6th annual Heart of Texas Marching Festival on Saturday with a record 26 bands performing this year. Bands from Bronte, Eldorado, Coleman, Mason, Goldthwaite, Menard, Eden, Seymour, Miles, Rising Star, Wall, Christoval, Comanche, Santa Anna, Cross Plains, Santo, Electra, De Leon, Brady, Florence, Munday, Bangs, San Saba, Sonora, Brownwood and Early all participated. Howard Payne University played an exhibition performance to close out this year’s festival.
The San Saba High School band won Overall Outstanding Champion in the competition for the first time. They also won awards for Outstanding 2A band, Outstanding Percussion and Outstanding Drum Majors as well as a Division I rating. Brownwood secured the Outstanding Woodwinds award as well as Outstanding 4A band and a Division I rating. Early was awarded the Fan Favorite Band award and a Division I rating.
