Ruth Followwell, 97, passed from this life, Thursday, December 14, at Brownwood Senior Care.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec 17th at 2:00 PM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.  Pastor Ken Colgrove will be officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday Dec. 16, from 6-8 PM. Interment will be at Eastlawn Memorial Park

She was born to Willie Charles and Minnie Isola (Carey) Pinkston on March 23, 1920 in Pioneer, Texas. She attended school in Dressy and Cross Plains.  She married Everett Followwell on August 27, 1938.  They were married 74 years until his death September 21, 2012.

She worked at MSystem Grocery Store, Hagar Slacks, Cotton Mill and Sears.  Also, owned her own Grocery Store for several years. She was happy just being a housewife and cooking for family and friends. She and her husband enjoyed having fish fries and inviting everyone to their lake home. She loved working in her flower garden.  After moving back to Brownwood from Houston, they bought property at Lake Brownwood and built a nice home where they resided for 35 years, she was a member of the Brownwood Evangelism Center for 72 years. She loved her church and was a Sunday School Teacher for several years and youth leader,

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Wanda Followwell.

Survivors include daughter Marquita Gayle Dean, Donita Denison and husband Carrol of Brownwood, sisters Ruby Mcbride of Brownwood and Betty Hall of Shawnee. Oklahoma, brother W.C. Pinkston and wife Oleta of Brownwood, brother-in-law O.D. Followwell, of Brownwood, sister-in-law Patsy Followwell of May, Mozelle Walton of Tulerosa, NM. Grandchildren Terry Denison and wife Paula, Sandra Milligan, and husband Mike, Shannon Dean and wife Yolanda, Clint Dean, Brandon Dean, B.J. Dean  Kandice Benevides and husband Patrick, Caleb Dean, Seth Dean, Adam Milligan and wife Gina, Brandon Milligan,  William Milligan and wife Karen, Elexis Milligan, Emma Milligan and Dominic Milligan, Parker Milligan and numerous nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank Dr. Amy Tindol, Dr. David Smith, the nurses, aids, and all staff at Brownwood Senior Care. They had taken care of Mother during her illness. Also, a thank you to our pastor Ken Colgrove, and wife Nancy and all the members of the Brownwood Evangelism Center for their prayers, visits and remembrances. She loved her church and family very much.
