Ruth Carmon Long Petross, 79, of Brownwood, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ February 19th, 2018. Carmon was born in Sulphur Springs to Sidney and Thelma Long on July 4th, 1938. She was a wonderful woman, mother, sister, and friend to all who loved her. Carmon played the piano in the church almost all of her life. She was a nurse for 33 years and a very talented seamstress and loved to cook great meals for all

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Pete Petross, parents Sidney and Thelma Long, 1 brother Dell Wayne Long, 2 sisters Justine Bass and Betty Corley. She is survived by 2 brothers Frank and Dennis Long, 2 sisters Juanita Mills and Jean Carlisle, son Bill Rains, daughter Ruth Burns, son-in-law Steve Burns, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all those that loved her. They have peace knowing she is in Heaven and will one day be reunited with her again.

 

The family will greet friends during visitation at Heartland Funeral Home from 6-8pm Friday, February 23rd.Graveside service will be Saturday, February 24th at 2pm at Greenleaf cemetery.
