Graveside services for Russell Boyd, age 80, of Star, will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Hurst Ranch Cemetery, with Doyle Combs officiating.
Russell passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Goldthwaite Senior Health Center after a lengthy illness.
Russell Truman Boyd was born in Loraine, Texas on June 16, 1932 to Willis and Beulah Boyd. He attended Loraine schools and served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a gunner on a B-29. He married Jane Kersenbrock on September 15, 1955 in Colby, Kansas.He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1960 with a degree in Ag Education. He taught Ag at Star from 1961 through 1971 then at New Horizons Boys Ranch. He was a ranch manager for many years and retired in 1991. He was a great family man and loved the Lord.
He was survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane Kersenbrock Boyd of Star, one bother Willis Homan Boyd, Jr. of Star, Texas, one sister in-law Linda Boyd of North Zulch, Texas, two brother in-laws Jack and wife Jane Kersenbrock, Jerry and wife Becky Kersenbrock both of Kansas, with many nieces, nephews, and many cousins; a daughter, Kelly Boyd Jurek and Billy Johnson of Star, son, Steve and Liz Boyd of Eltopia, Washington, son, Chuck and Nancy Boyd of Terrebonne, Oregon, son, Bruce and Charlette Boyd of Hamilton, and daughter, Kristi and Hugh Taylor of Goldthwaite, granddaughter, Jessica and Mike Cumberland of Groesbeck, granddaughter, J’lynn Boyd of Hamilton, grandson, Brice Boyd of Hamilton, granddaughters, Sommer and Marlo Boyd of Kahlotus, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Beulah Boyd and one brother Willard Douglas Boyd of North Zulch, Texas.
