Services for Pete Ferguson will be held on Tuesday, May 26th at 11 AM at the Davis Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 800 Center Avenue, Brownwood, TX.
Roy Pleasant “Pete” Ferguson was born November 30, 1927, in Bangs, Texas, to Richmond Harvey and Ida Jane (Guyer) Ferguson. Pete served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, aboard the USS Vincennes. He married the love of his life, Winnifred “Shorty” Winburne, on September 26, 1946, in Brownwood, Texas. Pete was a firefighter with the Brownwood Fire Department for 40 years; 22 of which he served as the fire chief. While working as a firefighter, he also helped train new recruits. Pete worked as an instructor for the Texas A&M fire school for over twenty years. He was also a member of VFW Post #3278 and an avid bingo enthusiast. Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Pete was preceded in death by his loving wife, Winnifred; his son, Gary Ferguson; his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Pete leaves behind his sons, David Ferguson of Acuna, Mexico and Roy Ferguson of Brownwood; his daughter, Wyvonne Ballard and husband Harold of Brownwood; his grandchildren, Heather Norway and husband Tim of Brownwood, Shae Hatfield and wife Chareese of Austin, Colt Ferguson of Jacksboro, Ashley Deeds and husband Bobby of Mullin, Breawna Ballard of Brownwood, Brody Ballard of Austin, Paige Ferguson of Florida and Logan Ferguson of May; a step-grandchild, Israel “Sam” McCrary and wife Leslie of San Antonio; great-grandchildren: Adam, Callie, Jordan, Preston, Trinity, Hudson, Halyssa and Hannah Norway, Presley Dareing, Luke and Haden Hatfield, Brendan Sampson, Jensyn Ledlow, and Ethan and Evan Deeds.
