Funeral Services for Roy Calvin Knight, age 85, of Brownwood, will be held Sunday August 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Early, Texas with Eddie Allshie officiating, interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. He passed away Thursday August 11, 2011 in Brownwood, Texas. Calvin was born on September 13, 1925 in Crowley, Texas to William Joseph and Mary Ethel (Knox) Knight.
He married Pauline Priscilla (Kepner) Knight on August 20, 1947 at Hampton Place Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas; Roy graduated from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. Calvin enjoyed Ministry work and it became his passion, therefore he also received his ordination into Ministry from Southwest Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather and served honorably in the United States Navy, in which he earned several awards. Calvin also enjoyed being with his family, and will be remembered as a war hero by many.Survivors include his daughter; Susan Nisbet and husband Mike of Richardson, TX. A son; Paul Knight of Roundrock, TX. 7 grandsons; and 11 great-grandchildren. Calvin is preceded in death by his parents; William and Ethel Knight; and his wife, Pauline Knight.
