Services for Roy Armstrong, age 77, of Brownwood will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Hetzel officiating; burial will follow at Rising Star Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service Saturday from 3-4 at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
Roy passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at a local nursing home after a brief illness. He was born November 15, 1937, to James and Winnie (Brooks) Armstrong in Rising Star, Texas. He graduated from May High School in 1957. Upon graduating high school he served in the United States Army. Afterward, he settled in Brownwood, working for Chandler Auto as an auto parts salesman for many years. Roy enjoyed farming and ranching at his family’s farm in the May Community. Roy was a member of Union Presbyterian Church. He cherished the many friendships he had at Vicksburg Retirement Community, the Senior Citizens Center, and Dairy Queen.
Roy is survived by his son, Randall Armstrong of Ft. Worth; daughter, Sheila Senkirik and husband Bryan of Early; five grandchildren, Jake Senkirik and fiancé Alexis Pearse, Tiffany Armstrong, Tyler Armstrong, Jordyn Senkirik, and Kayla Armstrong; brother, Eddie Armstrong and wife Linda of Graham; and mother of his children, Carolyn Fisher of Brownwood. He is also survived by other family members and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Winnie Armstrong of Rising Star.
