Brownwood High School Senior Naomi Rosato signed a letter of intent Thursday afternoon to play volleyball for Missouri Baptist University in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Rosato is the daughter of Mike and Kim Rosato of Brownwood.  She played as a setter for the Brownwood Lady Lions.

Girls Sports Head Coach Don Hood commented about the opportunity given to Rosato.

“She’s got a lot left in her.  Moving up to the college level program will be good for her,” said Hood.  “You never know how good you are until you challenge yourself.”

He also stated that he was really excited for Naomi in choosing Missouri Baptist University and being able to continue her volleyball career.

“One of the things that gives me great pride is seeing our athletes, not do well for us but represent us in a way makes everybody proud.  Naomi is the epitome of just that.  In everything she does, in the way she reacts, she brings glory to her family and to God,” said Hood.  “We are going to miss you.  I want to say thank you, thank you to her family for what you stand for and for letting her be a part of our program.”

At MBU, Rosato plans to study Art Education and incorporate it into missions work in the future according to her mother.

She considered several other schools including Oklahoma Baptist University, Palm Beach Atlantic University and Dallas Baptist University.  After praying about the decision, Rosato stated that she recently chose Missouri Baptist University.

“I just recently decided,” said Rosato.  “It was a tough decision but through lots of prayer, I knew it was where God wanted me.”  She explained that God had showed her this was the right opportunity.

Her parents stated that she is the fourth of their children to head off to college and that the others had chosen schools about two hours away.  Although she will be farther from home, the Rosatos stated they have a peace about her decision.

“Because she prayed about it, we have a peace about it.  We know this is where God wants her to go,” said Mrs. Rosato.

Missouri Baptist University’s women’s volleyball competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as a part of the American Midwest Conference.  The team is one of the most successful programs the university has to offer.  The team traveled to the NAIA National Championships in 2005, 2006, 2011 and 2012, and placed third in the nation in 2006.
