He may not be Santa Claus, but Tracy Ebarb is on a rooftop and is looking to give a great gift to a local organization with the help of the community.
Ebarb, the director of student ministries at Union Presbyterian Church, began sitting on the roof of the church’s education building starting Monday morning and plans to stay there through noon on Thursday. His hope is to raise money for the struggling Boys & Girls Club of Brownwood. Ebarb’s goal is to raise $75,000 in his 75 hour rooftop sit. He said, “That’s only $1000 per hour,” as he sat on the roof Monday morning.
Ebarb also asked for motorists crossing the Bill Monroe overpass on Austin Avenue to be sure and honk at him as they drive by so he will know they can see him.
Area residents are encouraged to stop by the church at 700 Fisk Avenue and make a donation to help him reach his goal. Those interested can also call 325-646-8569 to pledge a donation.
Ebarb is also hoping to raise additional money from area churches by challenging Brown County churches to donate $1000 each.
