Ronald Lynn Townsend, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Brownwood Regional Hospital. He was born April 16, 1939, in Blanket, TX to Albert and Evelyn Townsend.
Ronnie enlisted in the Navy where he spent 4 years traveling the world learning electronics. After serving his country, he met the love of his life and married Martha Underwood on August 30, 1963. They just celebrated 54 years of marriage. He retired from GTE after 25 years and then retired from Early ISD. After retiring, he continued working numerous jobs.
He was a very kind hearted and loving person; he loved spending time fishing, hunting and playing dominos. Ronnie loved his family and friends and would help anyone in time of need. He was a devoted Husband, Dad, Brother and Uncle.
He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Evelyn Townsend, sister Minnie Ola (Townsend) Hughes, and brother, Robert Townsend.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Martha Townsend; sister Teenie Sharp and Jim; daughter Kimberly Etzel; son Jay Townsend; granddaughter Kourtney Williams and Joshua; granddaughter Allie Etzel; grandson Clay Townsend; granddaughter Ivy Townsend; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces , nephews, relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Heartland Funeral Home, Early, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, Early, Texas. Burial services will follow at Blanket Cemetery, Blanket, Texas.
