The Ark Domestic Violence Shelter will host a dinner and dance, “Romancing the Stars,” at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 14th at the Brown County Fairgrounds Home Economics Building.
Tickets are available at the Brownwood, Early, Comanche and Coleman Chambers of Commerce, KOXE, KBWD, and Wendlee Broadcasting for $45 each and include an evening of dancing to the music of the Bill Smallwood Band and dinner catered by Humphrey Pete’s which includes an 8 oz. sirloin, roasted new potatoes, green beans, salad, roll and dessert. During the event, there will be live and silent auctions. Auction items include a guitar autographed by George Strait, a trip to New York City (airfare and hotel accommodations), a trip to New Orleans (airfare and hotel accommodations), a sapphire and diamond ring and much more.Those attending are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite star. Some local “stars” who have been dedicated supporters of the Ark will be recognized during the event as the recipients of the Coy Pullara Unsung Hero award. Coy was instrumental in creating the shelters here (1984) and in Abilene (1980).
