A one-vehicle rollover accident on Hwy 67 West, between Brownwood and Bangs, injured a teenage driver Thursday evening.
The accident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m., as the female driver was traveling west to Bangs. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Martin Molotsky, after brief rainfall in the area, the wet roadway was most likely the cause of the accident. The driver lost control of the Toyota Camry which traveled into the median where it overturned. The driver was extricated from the vehicle by the firefighters.
Although the condition of the driver was not released at the time of the accident, she was reported to be conscious and speaking. Initially emergency responders had called for transport by an Air Evac helicopter but after accessing the driver, she was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
Trooper Molotsky reported that three other vehicles were involved in a separate wreck after a witness to the accident who was following behind the Camry turned around and stopped in the eastbound lanes to help the driver. She parked the Tahoe in the outside lane and a Jeep Liberty traveling behind in the inside lane side-swiped the Tahoe, knocking off its driver’s side mirror. The Liberty, which had slowed down, then rear-ended an 18-wheeler, which caused minimal damage to both vehicles. The 18-wheeler was reported to have left prior to law enforcement releasing it from the scene, said Molotsky. No injuries were reported from the second accident and all vehicles had minimal damage.
Texas DPS, Brownwood Fire Department, Bangs Volunteer Fire Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, and Allegiance Ambulance responded to the scene of the accident.
