Brownwood News – MINERAL WELLS, TX – Because of economic problems and a slowing economy brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Texas House District 60 candidate Dr. Glenn Rogers today reaffirmed his commitment to public education, rural healthcare and job creation in the district.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has presented our communities with challenges not seen in more than 100 years,” said Rogers. “Our cities and counties are resilient, and the hard work and optimism of the citizens of District 60 has been inspiring. I’m proud to call the district home.”
“With the state and local governments tightening budgets, it is more important than ever to have a representative that will fight for the district,” continued Rogers. “I began my campaign by focusing on strengthening rural healthcare, supporting public education, and promoting job creation without straddling business owners and workers with new, unnecessary tax burdens. This virus has significantly affected all of these. Today, I reaffirm my commitment to focus on these important issues when elected.”
“While we work to minimize the health effects of the virus, we must also work to strengthen our economy. District 60 needs a representative that will fight to ensure that our communities are not forgotten when the difficult decisions are made in Austin. District 60 is my home, and I will fight for my neighbors and communities in the district.”
The runoff for District 60 and other contested elections has been set for July 14, 2020. Early voting is scheduled to begin June 29 and end on July 10. Any person that voted in the March 3 Republican Primary is eligible to vote. Citizens who did not vote in either March 3 primary are eligible to vote as well.
