He had a passion for helping students overcome their own learning difficulties.

A faithful Christian, Roger was a longtime member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church while living in Brownwood and later Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler. He was also a member of the Rotary club and enjoyed learning about history, especially World War II and Texas history.

He married Loma Sue Christian on May 21, 1989 in Brownwood. Together they raised Christy, Carrie, and James before welcoming Mark into the world.

Roger is preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Blake; his brother, Bill Blake; nephew, Will Blake; and grandson, Calan Chambers.
