Robert “Pappy” Spencer, age 77 of Brownwood went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 7, 2013. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday March 9, at the New Life Church in Brownwood. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday (today) at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, 800 Center Ave., Brownwood. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.
Robert was born on October 9, 1935, in Annona, Texas, to Jon Robert and Irene Tucker Spencer and had lived in Brownwood for the past 42 years. He married Edna Stires on April 10, 1955 and together they raised 4 children. Robert worked at 3m as a Machine Operator and was a member of the New Life Church. He enjoyed sports, tinkering in his shed and fishing. He was always on the lookout for aluminum cans to recycle so he could finance his next fishing trip. He loved having coffee with his friends at Texas bank, and when the weather was too bad to fish, he would stay home and do puzzles.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Edna “Nanny” Spencer; children, Carole Ann Hood, and husband, Michael, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Glenn Harris Spencer, and wife, Roberta, of Brownwood, Lisa LaToya Powers, and husband, Jonathan, of Brownwood and Glenn Harris Spencer, Jr. of Brownwood; brothers, Jimmy Ray Spencer, and wife, Jeanette, of Amarillo, Texas and Raymond Lee Spencer, and wife, Linda, of Clarksville, Texas; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
