Graveside Services for Robert Joseph Nance, age 60, Brownwood will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday July 19, 2010 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Monsignor Benedict Zientek officiating, interment to follow under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Nance passed away Friday July 16, 2010 in Brownwood.
Robert was born January 11, 1950 in Brownwood, Tx to James Calvin and Rita (Blessinger) Nance. He married Roxie Smith on May 22, 1971 in Rising Star, Tx. Robert was a high school teacher and a coach for 34 years throughout Texas. He retired from Coppell High in 2006, where he was a defensive co-coordinator. He returned to Brownwood to take over his dad’s JR Charolais Farm in May,Tx. Robert attended May High School and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1972.
He is survived by his wife Roxie Smith Nance of Brownwood; two sons, Scott Nance and wife Wendy of Austin, and Joey Nance and wife Stephanie of Arlington; his father, Jim Nance of May; mother-in-law, Frankie Smith of Rising Star; a niece, Laura Irrgang and husband Adam of Lone Oak, Tx; sister-in-law, Shirley Harrelson and husband Steve of Fort Worth; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Catherine Nance.
