Robert Earl (Bobby) Brice died peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Oak Tree Assisted Living Facility in New Braunfels, TX. He was born in Brownwood, TX on April 1, 1929. His wife of 59 years, Maxine, preceded him in death in March, 2011.
Bobby is survived by his sons, Don and wife Karen of North Richland Hills, TX and Dan and wife Barbara of Spring Branch, TX; and sister Wilma Joyce of Fort Worth, TX. “Daddy Bob” is also survived by his grandchildren Jonathan Brice and wife Amy of Hutto, TX; Kenton Brice and wife Ashley of Denton, TX; David Brice of North Richland Hills, TX; Kimberly Brice of London, England; and Michael Brice of San Antonio, TX, and great-grandchildren Cadence and Jackson Brice of Hutto, TX. Bobby is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law that were very special to him, along with aunts and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bobby grew up in Brownwood and was a proud 1947 graduate of Brownwood High School, where he was a three-sport letterman. He married Maxine Harris of Brownwood in 1951 and they moved to Bay City, TX, where he worked as a watchmaker for Tett’s Jewelers for 47 years. He was a member of the Bay City Jaycees, and a member of the Bay City Kiwanis Club, where he had perfect attendance for 55 years, He was designated “Life Member” in Kiwanis and was also a member of First Baptist Church of Bay City, TX. He was also very involved with the Matagorda County 4-H Club.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 6th, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood, TX from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Salt Creek Cemetery in Early, TX.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Brice, Kenton Brice, David Brice, Michael Brice, W.T. Harris and Ken Lamkin. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank and Barbara Sliva, Wayne and Vicki Head, and Vim and Marian Rye. Memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church in Bay City, TX; Salt Creek Baptist Church in Early, TX; and to Kiwanis International.
