Brownwood News – The 45th annual Brownwood Bass Club Open Tournament was held at Lake Brownwood March 25th with the headquarters at the Dam. The weather was very warm for this time of year but the fish catching was great; 175 entrants competed for a cash payout in excess of $10,900.
Of the 175 entrants, 10 were in the Junior Division, 4 entered in the Women’s Division and the other 161 in the Open Division. 75 of the participants traveled from outside of Brown County to fish beautiful Lake Brownwood. Out of the 175 entrants 132 brought fish to the scales. There were 354 fish weighed in at the end of the day with a total weight of 1007.03 pounds for an average weight of 2.85 pounds per fish. All of these fish except for six were released back into the lake alive and kicking.

In total there where 40 checks handed out for just under $11,000 in prize money.
Long time Brownwood Bass Club member Robert Brown toped the field with three fish weighing in at 16.25 pounds to take the first place check of $2,000 which was sponsored by Bruner Toyota. The following is the top 10.
